Good Treatment Of Animals

Peace of God and His mercy to you.

God chose the human to take care of the earth. He provided humanity with guidance in the Holy Books and through the teachings of the Prophets, Peace Be Upon Them. One of these guides is about caring for the creatures. The Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, says:
God is merciful to those who are merciful. Be merciful to who is on Earth, and who is in the Heavens will be merciful to you. Source: Islamweb

Kindness To Animals
Animals are not toys. One should not treat an animal badly or hurt it. Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had forbidden tying animals (and making them the targets of arrows, etc.) Source: al-islam

We must give food and water to animals in need. The person is rewarded for doing so. Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: A man suffered from intense thirst while on a journey, then he found a well. He climbed down into it and drank (water) and when he came out he saw a dog lolling its tongue and eating the moistened earth out of thirst. The man said: This dog has suffered from thirst as I had. So he climbed down into the well, filled his shoe with water, then caught it in his mouth until he climbed up and let the dog drink it. Allah appreciated this act of his and pardoned him. Then (the Companions around him) said: Allah's Messenger, is there for us a reward even for (serving) such animals? He said: Yes, there is a reward for service to every living animal. It is forbidden to kill an animal or leave it to die. 'Abdullah bin 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: A woman was punished because she had kept a cat tied until it died, and (as a punishment of this offense) she was thrown into Hell. She had not provided it with food, or drink, and had not freed her so that she could eat the insects of the earth. Source: al-islam

And when slaughtering the animal, one should treat it well. The Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, said:
God ordered kindness to befall everything. If you kill, kill right. And if you slaughter, slaughter right. And make your knife sharp to relive the animal. Source: al-islam

And do something good that the animals as well as human beings can benefit from for a long time. Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Never does a Muslim plant a tree or a plantation from which a bird or a man or a beast eats, but that is (counted as) a charity in his favor. Source: al-islam

In the end...
Love God's creatures, and treat them well. May God reward you :)
